About us

Splendor Titanium Inc. (Splendor) has developed a proprietary next-generation hybrid technology for producing high-purity titanium dioxide at a low cost. The patented process combines solvent extraction technology with conventional titanium dioxide finishing methods. By converting low-cost ilmenite ore into high-purity titanium dioxide, the entire supply chain can be integrated into a single process, while maintaining high energy efficiency, low emissions, and a closed-loop design. The finished product’s performance has been verified through paint testing conducted internally as well as through independent verification by leading global paint manufacturers.

History

2016
Mr. Mazen AlNaimi and his colleagues were in a consultancy relationship with Argex Titanium Inc., Canada, advising on the development of a disruptive titanium dioxide production technology.
2019
US Patent granted on the proprietary titanium dioxide manufacturing process
2020
Mr. Mazen AlNaimi established Splendor Titanium Inc and acquired Argex
2013-2023
Ten years of research in Canada has led to many improvements in the process

The technology is the culmination of sustained R&D efforts by Splendor Titanium, initially undertaken by Argex Titanium Inc. since 2013. Under the guidance of Splendor experts until the acquisition in 2020, development work was conducted in a facility located in Valleyfield, Quebec. Before the acquisition by Splendor in 2020, more than C$80 million had been spent on technology development.

Patent

Splendor Titanium Inc. holds US Patent 10,480,047 B1 that covers the proprietary technology for producing titanium dioxide using natural ilmenite ores. The status of the US patent and other geographic patents are summarized here: https://patents.google.com/patent/US10480047B1/en

Scope – beyond titanium dioxide

Splendor’s patented process has many advantages over legacy processes, which have comparatively high energy requirements and high environmental impacts. A standout feature of Splendor’s process is that it can use single or blended feedstock: less concentrated grades and different ore compositions to produce titanium dioxide as well as critical minerals (such as nickel, cobalt, vanadium, and magnesium).

According to R&D carried out since 2016, Splendor’s process has the advantage of producing a range of critical minerals because of the possibility of using blended feeds. Successful preliminary studies have been carried out for magnesium, vanadium, and niobium.

Team

Splendor benefits from an experienced leadership and senior management team with a considerable depth of industry experience across business and project development, chemicals, and global markets. The core team has been in place since 2016.
